I guess an automatic email download was triggered or something. - Custom settings of the application: I have IMAP accounts without periodic download (ie: imap push enabled). I'm also using 3D effects in the desktop, which means that due to the composition all the apps paint themselves even if they are not shown in the current virtual desktop.
