Subject: Re: [STOPNATO] Madeleine Albright: "We Did The Right Thing"

STOP NATO: NO PASARAN! - HTTP://WWW.STOPNATO.HOME-PAGE.ORG

The biggest lie in Albright's op-ed piece is the title - "Our Stake in Kosovo"

Albright's "stake" in Kosovo is united with those who will profit from
expanding NATO, and from having one more desperate labor market with which to
undermine the security of anyone making a living wage.

The rest of us in America have no "stake" in Kosovo, except to begin the
process of making amends for the incalculable harm our misleaders have caused.

As a medal of honor winner once said:

"I believe that if we had and would keep our dirty, bloody, dollar-soaked
fingers out of the business of these nations so full of depressed,
exploited people, they will arrive at a solution of their own. at least what
they get will be their own, and not the American style, which they don't
want and above all they don't want crammed down their throats by Americans."
-- Gen. David M. Shoup, Commandant, U.S. Marine Corps (1960-1963)

The corporation's problem with Yugoslavia was that there weren't enough
"depressed, exploited people," due to vestiges of socialism. They have been
working for the last 40 years to amend that.

That same issue of the New York Times contained another example of
upper-class tunnel vision.

A headline on p. 19 read: "Nation's Robust Economy Contributing to Lack of
Affordable Housing"

For 99% of the world, "affordable housing" is central to the definition of a
good economy. Not for the New York Times. Its sole criterion of a healthy
economy is healthy profits. Everything else and everyone else can drop dead,
and they will still talk of a "robust" economy.

    Les.
