Great Socialist Peoples Libyan Arab Jamahiriya Jamahiriya News Agency English News Bulletin Thursday 4 Dhul Qeda 17 Ayu Annar 2002 Foreign Liaison Secretary Meets Belarussian Foreign Minister Tripoli / Ayu Annar 17 / Jana The Foreign Affairs Secretary at the General Peoples Congress held a meeting last night with Mikhail Jkeneskov the Foreign Minister of Belarussia who is currently visiting the G.J. The meeting studied the two countries bilateral relation and their promotion particularly the co-operative ties between the General Peoples Congress and the National Assembly in Belarussia. During the meeting the Belarussian Minister expressed his appreciation for the Peoples Congresses being the masters of decision making in the G.J for ratifying the agreements signed between the two countries . The Foreign Affairs Secretary gave the Belarussian Minister a detailed briefing about direct peoples democracy applied on the land of the Great Jamahiriya through Peoples Congresses and Committees. **** Great Jamahiriya &Belarussia Co-operation Tripoli/Ayu Annar 4/Jana The secretary of general peoples committee held a meeting yesterday with Mikhail Jkeneskov,the foreign minister of Belarussia and his accompanying delegation which is currently visiting Great Jamahiriya. The meeting studied the consolidation of bilateral co-operation in all areas. During the meeting the foreign minister confirmed the total readiness and desire of his country to establish distinguished relations with Great Jamahiriya particularly after the recent visits and meeting conducted between the two countries. The meeting was attended by the secretary of the Libyan peoples bureau in Belarussia and the Belarussian ambassador to Great Jamahiriya. **** Libyan Belarussian Joint Committee Meets Tripoli/Ayu Annar 4/Jana The meeting of the first session of the Libyan-Belarussian joint committee for economic and technical co-operation are underway in the attendance of the secretary of the general peoples committee for foreign liaision and international co-operation and Mikhail Jkeneskov the Bellarussian foreign minister,the ambassadors,experts and specialists representing both sides. **** Libyan-Belarussian Joint Committee Meets Tripoli/Ayu Annar 17/Jana The meetings of the first session of the Libyan-Bellarussian joint committee are underway in Tripoli in the attendance of the secretary of the general peoples committee for foreign liaison and international co-operation and Mikhail Jkeneskov the Bellarussian foreign minister,ambasadors, experts and specialists. **** Libyan-Belarussian Joint Committee Meets (First Addenum) Tripoli/Ayu Annar 17/Jana The secretary of the general peoples committee for foreign liaision and international co-operation delivered a speech welcoming the Bellarussian foreign minister and his accompanying delegation. He expressed his optimism at the success of the meetings and said there is an issue that preoccupied the whole world that is terrorism. For years we have been talking about the seriousness of this phenomenon and the need for the world to counter it because it represents a serious threat for security and stability. We support all international efforts at the un-level, the regional level and bilateral levels to fight this serious phenomenon.Libya is one of the first countries that co-operated and enacted resolution no 1373 of the UN in respect of fighting terrorism. We also believe that the new international order which is being talked about would not be established other than through the establishment of co-operation projects in all areas of the economy, politics, culture and security on a much wider scale. That is why the Great Jamahiriya has actively worked with African states to establish the African union as a practical means to contribute towards stability, development and progress on the African continent. We believe that the alternative for the international economic system is a creation of an international economic entity to achieve justice and co-operation in a world which has become increasingly interdependent. Therefore Libya has joined to join the world trade organisation because we believe that the manner of international co-operation and international integration is the real alternative for the policies of sanctions, blockades and embargoes. However all these international economic relations must remain strong at all levels. Therefore we are now engaged in the consolidation of international orientation for economic co-operation on the basis of the forum and bodies that achieve balanced development and co-operation between all nations of the world. We are very hopeful and optimistic and serious. We have a huge agenda item in various areas of co-operation in energy, oil, gas, technology, science, culture, investment, joint ventures, animal and marine wealth, trade, services, electricity, transport, communications and the banking sector in addition to health and natural resources. **** Libyan Belarussian Joint Cmmittee Meets (Second and Last Addendum) Tripol/Ayu Annar 17 /Jana The Belarussian foreign minister delivered a speech at the start of which he offered thanks and appreciation to the Great Jamahiriya for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended to him and his accompanying delegation and said we should indicate that we are now in a position for the practical documentation of co-operation between our two countries on the basis of construction. We are to apply all agreements reached between our two countries through this meeting. We are ready to discuss all issues presented in order to certify and consolidate the agreements between the two countries. I wish to confirm that the promotion of co-operation with the Gerat Jamahiriya is the main distinguished direction for Belarussia in its current policy. The Belarussian minister wishes in the consolidation of co-operation with the Great Jamahiriya in all areas. We are proposing to focus on the sectors of industry,equipment and machinery and the establishment of a Joint Bank in order to facilitate co-operation between the two countries. We greatly appreciate the efforts exerted by the Gerat Jamahiriya on the regional level and we support your efforts and continued actions. The Belarussian republic has applied to join the wto. For us it is highly important for us to have a strong political partner and a healthy Russian market.
