Phillip,
Bummer to hear that you had problems with the Rotec TBI. I have around 280
hours on mine. There are lean issues with this carb. Whenever I climb above
9000 feet, it would start to lean out. I have to pull the throttle back a
smidge to get the temps back down which cuts down the power available. Once
leveled off, all is well. It is annoying. I sent it back to them early on to
help. Well...... I plan to open it up at next inspection to open up the holes
at the full throttle end. It should help with the leaning tendency at full
throttle. You do have to learn its ways compared to a regular carburetor.
Then I put a Duc carbon propeller on the KR looking for better takeoff
performance relative to the cruise performance. Its nice and smooth, looks
good, but now I fly a slower airplane. It replaced a Ed Sterba wood propeller
(64x72). Go figure. I am still tweaking the pitch.
Happy flying

That carb is supposedly an Ellison copy but apparently it's not a very good
one. It's quite pricey and shipping from Australia to the U.S. is enormous for
some reason.

Maybe Steve G. has put the Ellisons back in production?
