Is this referring to "If ... then ... " statements?  If so then surely
there are only 3 possible outcomes?

If that is all true then it might be nice to re-write the whole
paragraph to be more human-friendly.  Hmmm, i've a bad feeling it's
not as simple as i am hoping!
