A group from OccupyLA, along with a number of port truck drivers, at least one longshore worker and people from the Labor Committee of OccupyLA met last Sunday to discuss a possible port action, building up towards a general strike in Los Angeles.
The next meeting will take place on Sunday, Nov. 13 at OccupyLA (City Hall) on the west steps at 12 noon. People are coming up from Occupy Long Beach as well, and we have been reaching out to a number of different sets of port truck drivers, aiming at an action on Dec. 12 tied in to the "Day without a Migrant" work stoppage and school walkout. Following the meeting, some participants will be heading down to Wilmington to join a locally-organized community gathering at Waterfront Park from 3-5:30 PM that will feature a teach-in about Occupy Wall Street and a speak out about community issues and solutions.
