There will be a "Themed General Assembly" on police, prisons, and the criminal injustice system this Saturday, October 20th starting at 1:00 PM at Pershing Square (Sixth and Olive), as a build-up towards the October 22nd national Day of Action to stop Police Brutality, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation that OLA is participating in next Monday.
Presenters include Michael Novick (who moderates the Stop Police Abuse Now! list on yahoogroups), and Hamid Khan of the Coalition to Stop LAPD Spying (at 2:00 PM). Others invited include the O22 Coalition, the Black Riders Liberation Party, Jericho Amnesty Movement, and Bilal Ali. There will also be information regarding the Agreement to End Hostilities inside the prisons, and the call for an "Occupy the Beat" campaign from the CA prison hunger strikers at the Corcoran SHU. Other issues of concern are the ballot measures in CA to amend three strikes and end the death penalty.
