Stop the 60 Year Old War!

Peace Treaty Now!

July 27th of this year marks the 60 th anniversary of the signing of the
armistice treaty that stopped the Korean War. However, the war has not
ended. A cease-fire agreement has only stopped the war temporarily and the
Korean peninsula has been in the state of war for the last 60 years. The
Korean peninsula is tangled in the interest of major global powers and has
become one of the highest militarized areas and now faces imminent danger of
war . If a new war is triggered in the Korean peninsula, it will unavoidably
become a nuclear war, eradicating all people in Korea. The world will face a
disaster.

Without signing a peace treaty to end the war once and for all, military
confrontation and threat of war will only continue. In Section 60 of the
originally-signed armistice treaty, it states that the parties will meet
within 3 months to work out the terms and conditions of the peace treaty.
However, no meeting to discuss the peace treaty has ever been held in the
last 60 years and the military tension has continued to escalate till today.

As peace loving citizens of the United States, we appeal to the parties of
the peace agreement on this 60th anniversary of the signing of the
armistice. There is no reason to not sign a peace treaty. Only a peace
treaty between the United States and North Korea can ensure peace and
stability in the Korean peninsula and the world. We urge the United States
to immediately open a door of dialogue for a peace treaty which can bring
complete peace to the Korean peninsula. The very first step to restore trust
between North Korea, South Korea and the United States is a peace agreement.
60 years of fear from war is more than enough.

Stop the War!

Peace Treaty Now!

Name and Organizations.
