It's incredible the amount of devastation there has been. I hope for the Japanese people that the after quakes will soon stop and that aid gets to everyone that needs help. Thank you Carol for posting the link.
We had been looking at an area of the northwest coast of Oregon to retire to, but today I came across the sunami escape route map for the area, and I am having second thoughts. Maybe we will look for a more sheltered area. Look at Fujutseka and Noriaga especially....whole forests have disappeared as well as half an island in the middle of the river. In one a river has been revealed that was obscured by the forest canopy before. The very last photo both valleys by the sea area have been "scoured" from the shore inland just like a glacier would produce.
