Over the weekend there was a tiger on the loose in a field not far from where I live. A man saw it laying in a field through the zoom lens of his camera. It was near a golf course and the police cleared it and told everyone to stay in the clubhouse. A cricket match was going on and the players were safely in the pavilion.

Marksmen moved into the are and the local zoo got a portable cage and a tranquilliser gun that they use on their own tigers for veterinary treatment ready, and a police helicopter went to investigate.

As the helicopter descended to get a better look, the downdraft from the rotor blades cause the tiger to roll over, and they discovered it was a life-size cuddly toy.

The police are initially treating the tiger a lost property, but they are investigating whether it was a deliberate hoax. If it was I wouldn't like to be the perpetrator - I'm sure they've got quite a few charges ready because of the amount of time, manpower and expense involved.

Makes such a pleasant change to have something like that on the news instead of the usual doom and gloom. Really made me smile.
