Hi, Thanks. Unfortunately printer profiling is not yet covered by littlecms tools. We are working on this subject, however. But both the complexity and the patent state of printer calibration makes it a very difficult stuff.
I hope to have a printer profiler available on next revision. >i thought about first to calibrate the scanner and then to print the >scanned (and corrected) target image through my printer an scan this >print again with my scanner. This functionality is already implemented in measurement tool. There is a "Lab pick mode" that converts a scanner in a cheap colorimeter. The procedure would be to print a target of known inks, measure Lab values with measurement tool and then build the profile by compare device RGB/CMYK with Lab measurement. But this profile is a lot more that a simple inversion... It need some sort of gamut remapping, and if the target space is CMYK things goes even more complex, across undercolor removal and black generation. There are some other free tools available. Remarkably Graeme's Gill Argyll. But I'm afraid it needs a hardware measurement device to do the profile, and whole CMS is still a work in progress. http://web.access.net.au/argyll/argyllcms.html Regards, Marti. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lars Tuber" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, July 30, 2002 9:34 AM Subject: [Lcms-user] printer calibration Hi, first i want to thank you Marti for your great work. everything works fine in my linux enviroment. i ordered an itu target from Wolf Faust and hope to get my scanner _and_ my printer calibrated. and there it is: how to calibrate my printer with your tools? i thought about first to calibrate the scanner and then to print the scanned (and corrected) target image through my printer an scan this print again with my scanner. then correct it with my scanner icm and make a profile. but my problem is: don't i have to 'invert' this profile in a way, because it should become a printer icm? does this work with a digital still camera and a monitor the same way? thanks again and keep up your good work! -- Regards Lars Tuber ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: Dice - The leading online job board for high-tech professionals.
