IMHO it isn't good idea to switch on libnl v2 - because it still in
development stage, not declared as 'stable', and even in such
'leading-edge' distro as Gentoo there is still libnl-1.1.

libnl isn't source of wifi pb. I successfully ran hostapd with other
environment built on gcc-3.3.3 (~month ago) with kernel+modules that was
built by gcc-4.3.2 (built by hand) - and it works OK.

No, there is at least one other package that uses libnl - one of
packages that I updated during last month. I can't mention it's name
now, but you can look into sources.cfg for dependencies.
