Well, remember, leaf is a distro that up until the latest (upcoming) 
version could be run from a single (superfomatted) floppy. Upgrading to 
the latest greatest bloat is not always an option in that context, 
especially if it doesn't offer any benefits to a floppy-based distro.

This might change with the newest releast (since trying to fit 
everything on a floppy is futile with a current kernel) - but keeping 
things small and as "bloat free" as possible still seems to be a 
worthwhile task to me (and to others working on the project, at least 
this was the case the last time this kind of thing was talked about on 
and off the list).

P.S. Besides - who needs bash on an embedded system, when there's ash, 
or whatever BB offers these days?
