Hi,
Like kp and Andrew I am running Bering-uClibc4 "in production" and it is
working well. IMHO no issues preventing a Beta release, but there are a
few annoyances I intend to fix as time allows:
- I get errors from snmpd like "ioctl 35123 returned -1". This is
because I have "long" interface names for my VLAN interfaces (>8
characters, e.g. "eth1....@eth1"). Seems that the latest version of
SNMPD has a fix for this, so I intend to upgrade the SNMP packages.
- A minor point, but Shorewall startup logs go
to /var/log/shorewall.log whereas Shorewall6 startup logs go
to /var/log/shorewall6-init.log (so IPv4 Shorewall should
use /var/log/shorewall-init.log ?)
- I am currently *not* using ulogd.lrp and I am getting Shorewall
"DROP" messages repeated in 3 log files and also on /dev/console. The 3
files are:
/var/log/kern.log
/var/log/messages
/var/log/syslog
Do I need to install ulogd.lrp *just* for Shorewall?
Seems that syslog-ng is capable of directing Shorewall messages to
one place, with a little configuration. Tom has provided some notes and
a link to a sample config:
http://www.shorewall.net/shorewall_logging.html#Syslog-ng
My vote is to use only syslog-ng, rather than syslog-ng *and* ulogd.
Note that Tom's page comments that ulogd is old, replaced by nflogd.
