For folks wanting to setup a mirror of the SourceForge site who don't
have the bandwidth to download the 250 Meg (and growing) CVS tarball
daily, I recently put an rsync mirror online.

The system is hooked to a Cogent 100 MBit/s link, so bandwidth shouldn't
be too much of an issue (although Cogent's network is still pretty
congested at their peering points). Anyway, you can simply rsync to:

rsync.steinkuehler.net::leaf-cvs

You'll probably want to use --numeric-ids, or otherwise alter the file
ownership/permissions to suit your local mirror environment.

I currently have no idea when SF creates a new daily tarball, but I
update the above system daily at 3:15 CDT, with the command:

links -source http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cvstarballs/leaf-cvsroot.tar.gz
| tar -xz -C ~charles/leaf-cvs/

*WARNING* This server this service is running on is not in the most
stable of environments...both the company that owns the server and the
company paying for the upstream link are on bad financial footing, so
don't be surprised if it suddenly goes offline. I hope to be able to
migrate to a more stable co-located system (run by someone who actually
pays their bills :-) in the near future, when a system upgrade will
provide enough free disk-space for me to create a high-bandwidth mirror
of our entire LEAF site. If I migrate to a new server, the
rsync.steinkuehler.net::leaf-cvs will remain the same...I'll do the
redirection with DNS.
