I moved the file to 'unsupported'. SF changed the behaviour of the 
OldFiles directory.

The "OldFiles" folder is not visible to users downloading files from 
your project. If you wish to make a file visible, simply move it to a 
different folder.

Understood. Lots of breakage in our old phpWebsite installation. I'll be
