OK.  I was trying to determine the point of that logfile -- only because
it exists and I thought that I might be doing something wrong ;>

If there is nothing currently established to use that logfile, then I
might take a stab at this myself.

What I was thinking is logging each attempted and each successful Email
sent.  Information to be contained on the logfile entry line will be:

        status
        date/time
        destination
        subject line

Since the only purpose of LRP Email is to inform the administrator of
catastrophic events, failure to receive such communication ought to be
traceable.

Logger exists to log via syslogd -- is this the proper vehicle for this
logging?  Or, would it be better to build it directly into the mail
function?
