Hi Godfried,

I think you must use the lrpkg.cfg file to move all LRP:....... packages
included in your syslinux.cfg (without the 'LRP:') because I have heard
a sound about a maximum of characters to not exceed in syslinux.cfg file.

I have no experience with booting from HD, but I have NOW a lot with CD.
And I have turned around this two files a serious moment to understand,
because I am very bad in Linux. But, I learn, read, check, experiment,
and Bering is a very very good distro to do that and to enter through
the great door (I think).

I say again 'many thanks' to all the Bering's crew and the Leaf-user
mailing list is the best source to learn more and hear sounds from
all Bering users difficulties and solutions. I have rarely read a so
good 'signal/noise' ratio, may be in the Ada lists...

But, I return to the real subject around HD booting. Is it possible to
have a look at your original syslinux.cfg ? What is your total files
capacity ? I have never been capable to overload more than 1680 floppy
disk on my CDs. How many Mo could the HD receive ? Is your bootdisk.bin
file holds more than a super floppy image ?
I hope to understand - a day - how to create or modify the original
distro image capacity to hold all the packages that I want on a CD !

I think CD is the best way to secure a firewall, because it is simply
not possible to write on it... I look to the flash memories, but it seems
that they are not realy lockable to protect them against writes.

To read you, Godfried.

Best Regards,
Francois BERGERE,
France.

I have transferred my Bering-rc3 files to a hard disk and boots up ok. I added more
programs to syslinux.cfg but found out that
not all were started
and that defeats the whole purpose of booting from the hard disk.
Is there any other way to add more programs tp syslinux.cfg?
GD
