MPs' Payrise Sides with Rich Against Poor

Greens Senator Bob Brown says the government and opposition should have
indexed MPs' payrises in the same way as the pension, starting now.

But the immediate 10% payrise is an affront to Australia's poor, including
the unemployed, who are falling further behind as the gap between rich and
poor widens, and I oppose it.

Senator Brown said that too many MPs have their eyes on CEO pay packages,
not their relativity with the many more Australians on low incomes.

When Senator Brown moved to cap CEO income at $1 million per annum earlier
in this Senate session, he failed to get a seconder.
