Nope. That's pretty well how it goes. It will scan your entire database putting up comparisons that you have to make choices about. It's not a rocket-scientist, just a computer. If you know it's not a duplicate, you can mark it Not a Duplicate so it doesn't come up again the next time you run the Merge option. If you're not sure, tag the two individuals so you can look at them more closely later. That's about it. Just slog your way through. OR, if you're sure you only have 25 or 30 you will probably find them next to each other in the Name List. You could find one pair at a time there and do a manual merge on them.

OK, I've done all the steps and got it all in there.... HOWEVER <grin>, it found not 25 or 30, but rather 550 like files through which I had to sort.

I ran into one problem though.... some of them would bring up a little window giving the option of saying No, they're absolutely not the same person. On the other hand, there were a lot in which the little window didn't show up and they were not the same individual, but I could tell the program they were not the same.

Any way around this?

Hey Mike, I'm not confused.... just very disorganized.

OK, maybe I am having a bit of dementia.... I'm getting to the right age for it. <grin>

That's not strictly true :-) There's always the option to Drag And Drop from one file to another. Damn! Now I've probably confused Joseph even more. Still, there's always the on-line Help and the tips on the website to assist.

You cannot merge people until they are in the same family file.
