Do not know that there is a problem since 427 IS the latest build for v8, and the last build for v7.5 is 278

My problem now is that it will not download the the later builds. The desktop works fine I have build 427 installed no problem. It sounds as if you have updated the program on the desktop but you haven't updated it on the laptop. Therefore when you try to open your family file on the laptop, you are getting a message saying you need a later build. Update the program on the laptop (either from the Home Tab OR by downloading the Standard version from the website and running it) and your problem should be over. Note although you download the Standard Free version from the website, it is the same installation file for the Deluxe. The difference is that the Customer Number unlocks more features. I'm not sure why people were telling you to install Legacy 7. Confused I think by you saying that both computers were running Windows 7.
