I would import the GEDCOM into an new Legacy file. Then you can look at what's there and decide to move the people from the new Legacy file to your existing Legacy file... then again, I tend to be cautious.
Importing the GEDCOM doesn't erase the GEDCOM information so you can import it as many times as you want. If you copy the GEDCOM from the floppy & CD to your computer hard drive, then you'll have backup copies right away. I would also make a 2nd copy from the floppy & CD to a flash drive to put in a safe deposit box or in secure offsite storage. I find if I put the flash drives in zip lock sandwich bag with a paper describing what is on the flash drive, it makes my life easier down the road. What a great treasure to find!!
