It isn't propaganda. Or at least, it's true.

Remailers haven't solved the email metadata privacy problem in theory
or in practice. In theory because of long-term intersection attacks;
in practice because not enough people use them to provide meaningful
anonymity, thus nobody starts using them, thus not enough people use
them...

A broadcast channel like alt.anonymous.messages won't scale to
widespread usage (which is needed for meaningful anonymity) and is
subject to fascinating dissection by Tom Ritter due to outdated
crypto, user-hostile implementations (worse even than PGP!) and the
aforementioned dearth of users.

I'm all for a revitalisation of remailer research, but let's not
pretend it's a solved problem.
