--- Comment #3 from Jean-Baptiste Faure <jbf.fa...@sud-ouest.org> ---
I did the following test (LibreOffice 4.0.3 Xubuntu 12.04) :
1/ create a very simple new spreadsheet with some data and formula
2/ select non empty cells, then copy (ctrl+C)
3/ open a new document text
4a/ paste (ctrl+V) => you get a OLE object
4b/ paste special and choose "Formatted text (RTF)" => you get a table
5/ save as RTF file format
6/ close the file
7/ open the file => whatever you did at step 4, the file is opened in Calc
(???). With 4a/ you do not have the table anymore, with 4b/ you get the table
but not the formulas (values only).

So, for me the bug is confirmed.

Workaround: you can open the file in Writer if you chose the file type "Rich
Text Format" in the filepicker (File > Open).

Generally speaking, it is a bad idea to save a new document in a non
OpenDocument format. If you need have your document in such a format, you
should save and work in ODF until your document is finished, then export (File
> Save As...) it in whatever the format you want.

@Miklos: do you know why LibreOffice opens the RTF file with Calc in this case?

Best regards. JBF
