Ah figured it out. Played long enough around to get the right way:

() => {expand(trafficReply.subnet)}

Another question though, would it be possible to use
<IPs:expand><span><traffic:sometag/></span></IPs:expand> and pass the
given NodeSeq over the bind into a function?
