Hmm, that brings to mind a different possible solution:

@macro lilyfile{\FILENAME\}
@/@file{\FILENAME\}
@end macro

if there's no way to automate our desired behaviour (assuming we
can agree on a desired formatting in the output!), this might be
an alternate solution?
