The snippet you mention is language-independent. I have tested it on Spanish note names by inserting \include "espanol.ly" before any explicit note name is invoked. Just insert your language command for English at the top and write all the note names in English. If the snippet does not apply to 2.8.6 is another question. -- Francisco Vila.
