Positive writeup of heartbeat...
This lunchtime I was browing through "PC PRO" magazine (March 2006 issue)
and spotted an article "SAN on the cheap". They used two CentOS boxes
equipped with heartbeat and DRBD to provide an iSCSI service. They then
used a Windows client to copy files on it, and did various nasty things
(shut heartbeat on primary; pulling power lead on primary, etc.) to the
CentOS boxes to try to disrupt the service.
"When we first started writing this article, ... while we wanted to
believe it was all going to work, we weren't sure whether it would.
By the end ... we can be nothing but impressed by how well it works.
Using off-the-peg open-source software, we've managed to put together
a basic but compelling implementation of a SAN using iSCSI. We've
only just touched on what a SAN is for and what iSCSI can do, but what
a great start."
