Of course. So does the IBM boot CD (which is a Linux live CD, btw. I'll disassemble it if things continue to fail), and the BIOS supplied setup program (which is how I set up a Raid in the first place).

aic79xx is the SCSI controller. Once a raid is defined, the disks that participate in the RAID are removed from the SCSI enumeration. It is therefor not the right driver for the job. As I wrote Ira before, if no hardware RAID is defined, I can install Debian Sarge amd64 on the machine using the AIC79xx (though, for some reason, not Debian Sarge IA32).

As for the RH kernels - RHAS3 by default does not find any drives either. I'm going to check the IBM site if they have any special drivers. If they don't, I'm going to call IBM's support. RHAS3 is a supported platform for this machine.
