Of late I have been having this irritating issue of my mouse pointer
pausing while I move it around my desktop. This is certainly not due to
load on my system 'coz it happens even when i have no apps open on my
desktop. i run a 800 MHz P3 and i didn't have this problem until a while
back.

Does any have any clue as to what this cud be due to.
Thanx in advance

Hi,
I'm doing netstat on my linux box and I'm getting tons of ...

the 192.168.1.5 is my linux web server (internal/intranet)

and the 182.168.1.6 is the DNS Server

by the way these are not the real ip adresses but you get the idea..

** why am I getting so many of the same thing ?? **

thank you for your time!

The one he wants to decrease is /tmp, which doesn't matter. The init
scripts for Debian, at least, wipe everything in there each reboot

This is not a new problem. It's coming up because Netscape can be very
stupid about the X-server's color depth. Netscape understands 1-bit,
8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit color depths, but panics and thinks that
24-bit color is 1-bit color, hence the B/W icons.

This info has been on the SuSE FAQ site since before May 1999; did you
check there? The fix is to run SaX or XF86Setup or whatever and select
32-bit or 16-bit color depth. This should actually speed up graphics
operations as all the pixels will be aligned on word boundaries.

It's really nice, but I wasn't ready to go this fancy yet. All what

If you want OSS applications to have sound then you need to follow the
section in the README concerning adding OSS settings to modules.conf.

You also need ALSA specific info added to teh same file. YOu just follow
the README for your specific card.

I have a modules.conf on my laptop that uses a similar driver but my
laptop isn't on right now so i can't transfer the file over to this
computer right now. If you would like to see it I can send it to you
later. U can just email me directly.

sounds like you are missing Xt libs....did you install the Xt
development package? The Xt libs may be a part of the whole X windows
devel package but maybe not....look for Xt libs on your distro CDs or
try online somewhere, rpmfind.net should have an rpm for Xt libs.

I have a Dell Insperon 8000 laptop. I'd like to use some of the special
keys to do something useful under linux.... Example: I'd like to make
the Volume-Up and Volume-Down actually control the sound level....

I'm almost positive these are all just keys, and not hard-wired to control
the sound level, because they don't work under linux!? Is this a valid
assumption?

I did a `showkey -s` and found this:

Key Name Down Event Up Event
==========      ============    ==========
Play/Pause 0E 01 0E 81

Fast Forward 0E 04 0E 84

*note: The Play/Pause button doubles as the "Dell `E`" Button, and the
Stop button is the "i" or "info" (I'm assuming the implyed "info")

But the Volume-UP/Down keys do not seem to generate scan codes, Is there
some other way to use them? (If so, then how do they work under windows?)

Now that i found these scan codes, what do i do with them?

Split your /tmp partition. Then create a softlink to the additional
directories you put on the new partition from within /usr.

Hmm... You've caught me with a CD writing app that I know nothing about...
Search the help on that program, or see what you can find on the manuf. site
regarding writing a "disk image" to the CD, since that is what the ISO is -
as you have probably already gathered, from your own research and the messages

If you had Adaptec's Easy-CD Creator, well - then I could help, and maybe

That's up to the router/hub. Mine allows me fixed IPs on the LAN side.
Check the manual for your Linksys.

Absolutely. Your Linux and Windows box are on the LAN which has either fixed
IPs or use DHCP (using either Linux or the LAN-side of the router as a DHCP
server). All network functions should work.

I've seen a few posts on this one but I didn't see any conclusive solutions.
I
wonder if someone could throw some light on this problem or direct me to an
archive.

Netscape hangs (consumes 100% CPU) when I view Java pages. I use RedHat6.2
and
have 320Mb Ram and Pentium III. I am able to consistently reproduce the
problem on many web sites (for example the 'Game of the Day' link on
www.merriam-webster.com). Initially I thought it was a RAM problem because
all
my 64MB would be consumed as well. I also read that netscape did not release
the memory properly. I upgraded my RAM, but no luck.

The only way out for me is to kill the process (Incidentally does anyone
know
wy netscape opens two processess).

The problem is with the Wizard that starts at runtime of Nero. It asks do
you want to burn a Data/Audio/Mix CD. If you answer the wizard questions
then the option for Burn Image is not in the drop down file menus. Instead
you must cancel the Wizard immediately.

Then click on File, now you can see an option called Burn Image - select
this.
Then choose the file you want to burn - ISO is not the default file it
searches for so change the "*.nrg" for the option "*.* all files". This
will allow your ISO files to be visible.
Select your ISO file.
Drag it across.
Click the usual Burn button.
Follow the usual comments and your ISO will be burned!

Regards.

Regards.
