"unsupported" basically means "seems effectively unmaintained" here. Neither 1.0.x nor 1.1.x are supported beyond volunteers having time to look into problems. I support 1.0.x if somebody asks "how do I map a drive to a Linux directory using DOSEMU 1.0.2.1" and I say "use lredir like this". In that case I wouldn't say "upgrade first!". The idea here is that if you have a problem (a DOSEMU bug, not just a user's question or setup fault) with 1.0.x, it might have been fixed in the 1.1.x development branch, but those problems have, so far, not been fixed in the 1.0.x branch.
