Here's some instructions I sent someone else before - thought I'd sent them to the list but as someone commented a few messages ago, the default to address is not the list!
These instructions are based upon the following URL: http://www.ducea.com/2007/08/27/dell-bios-firmware-updates-on-debian/ * Get a working version of Debian (Lenny or Etch) * apt-get install libsmbios-bin * Download the BIOS header file for the new version. [1] * modprobe dell_rbu * dellBiosUpdate -u -f -t R710-010404C.hdr # -t test the update first * dellBiosUpdate -u -f R710-010404C.hdr # Actually perform the update if th e above test worked [1] I visited the following URL, Downloaded the Packaged version for windows, unzipped it (unzip PER710_BIOS_WIN_1.1.4.EXE). You'll find the BIOS hdr in the payload directory. It's called R710-010104C.hdr http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?c=3Dus&cs=3D555&l=3Den&s=3Dbiz&deviceid=3D11809&libid=3D1&releaseid=3DR220767&vercnt=3D2&formatcnt=3D0&SystemID=3DPWE_R710&servicetag=3D&os=3DWNET&osl=3Den&catid=3D1&impid=3D-1 Obviously, find the correct download for your hardware Andrew On Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 05:55:47PM +0200, Laurent Beauvisage wrote: > Thank's for the Fast answer ! > > I read something about that on the list archive.
