I tried dc2xx[0-4], ttyUSB[0-4], and dabusb[0-4] under /dev/usb/* but it didn't work. I also tried /dev/dcxx[0-4] and /dev/ttyUSB[0-4]. In both cases I get the message: ks: *** couldn't open device /dev/usb/dc2xx0 (replace dc2xx0 by one of the devices I mentioned above. My question then is, if (as seen from the attached output), the camera is connected to USB hub 1 and assigned device number 3 what is the actual name of the device under the /dev directory? Is there something I have to do to get the camera associated with one such device name? Here's some output: lsmod: emu10k1 44384 1 soundcore 3504 4 [emu10k1] 3c59x 24640 1 (autoclean) usb-uhci 20672 0 (unused) usbcore 47248 1 [usb-uhci] nls_iso8859-1 2848 2 (autoclean) nls_cp850 3584 2 (autoclean) vfat 9040 2 (autoclean) fat 30720 0 (autoclean) [vfat] supermount 32496 8 (autoclean) ide-scsi 7568 0 sd_mod 11048 0 (unused) scsi_mod 86036 2 [ide-scsi sd_mod] /var/log/messages: Jun 4 21:15:16 gris311pc2 kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/2, assigned device number 3 Jun 4 21:15:16 gris311pc2 kernel: usb.c: USB device 3 (vend/prod 0x3f0/0x4102) is not claimed by any active driver. /proc/bus/usb/devices: T: Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#= 3 Spd=12 MxCh= 0 D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=03f0 ProdID=4102 Rev= 0.02 S: Manufacturer=Hewlett-Packard S: Product=HP PhotoSmart 618 (DIGITA) S: SerialNumber=000309670970 C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=c0 MxPwr= 10mA I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=(none) E: Ad=81(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl= 0ms E: Ad=02(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl= 0ms Belinda _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-users
