They have all the important (and unimportant) modules enabled.

But you (Serafim) might have to add an usb-storage line to your
/etc/modules.conf file like this:

alias usb-interface usb-uhci                    # already in modules.conf
post-install usb-uhci modprobe usb-storage      # new line for usb-storage
