In the Suse data base I found a entry about timing problems with USB devices. Therefore I changed my configuration a little bit. The modules usbcore usbserial and usb-ohci are no loaded during the boot process with the initial ramdisk. The file kernel in /etc/sysconfig now contains the following: INITRD_MODULES="reiserfs usbcore usbserial usb-ohci" I called mk_initrd and in /etc/fstab I changed the entry for the usbdevfs to the following: usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs defaults 0 0 Now, if I hit the HotSync button, I get the following: Jul 7 18:49:56 raimund kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:07.4-1, assigned address 2 Jul 7 18:49:56 raimund kernel: usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x830/0x60) is not claimed by any active driver.
