Hi !
I'm using a mobile DVD burner at my PC. It's a LG GSA4040B. It can
write +r/-r, +rw/-rw and -ram. The + and - stuff is working quite
good. But the -ram stuff doesnt really work. I just can write to the
media upto 700 MB and this only with cdrecord. I know that this
is wrong, a dvd-ram should be treated as a disk, but no
sdX is ever showing up in my log and none of those device-files
seems to be usable.
I'm using a debian standard-kernel 2.4.22-1-k7.
This is what I can find in the log (and /proc/scsi/scsi):
scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
Vendor: HL-DT-ST Model: DVDRAM GSA-4040B Rev: A300
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02
I also tried the hint in the FAQ with
echo >/proc/scsi/scsi "scsi add-single-device 0 0 0 1"
I even tried increasing the last digit. Nothing happened. I'm 50% sure
that in the debian kernel there is CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN switched although
I don't know it exactly. If you tell me that I have to build a kernel
by myself I will do that. Anyway I'd prefer not doing it, maybe you
have a solution how my /dev/sdx (at least one of them) gets connected
to my device. Oh, BTW, here the output of /proc/scsi/usb-storage-0/0:
Host scsi0: usb-storage
Vendor: QTS
Product: USB 2.0 ATAPI Bridge
Serial Number: 11100E0000589C13
Protocol: Transparent SCSI
Transport: Bulk
GUID: 05ab006011100e0000589c13
Attached: Yes
Maybe with this device it's not possible to have several LUNs
with one real inserted device ?
Thanx for any help !
Mermgfurt,
Udo
