Hello, I have a problem for a long time with my usb to ide hardware. I already report the bug here : http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1687
Details : I run a Debian Sid with kernel 2.6.1-rc3 from kernel.org. The conf of my kernel can be found here : http://jjluza.free.fr/config-2.6.1-rc3
Hardware :
my motherboard is based on nvidia nforce2 chipset. It works fine with all others USB hardware (like printer, adsl modem, a iomega mini usb drive, ...).
The hardware which doesn't work is a usb-ide case. You can find it here:
http://www.enermax.com.tw/product.htm
http://www.enermax.com.tw/images/ehd-350-u2b-large.jpg
The ide-usb chip used in this case is a genesys logic one. You can find all information about it here :
http://www.genesyslogic.com/GL811.htm
I use a Seagate HDD with this case.
The problem : I can plug it, load module usb-storage, sd_mod and sg without problem/error.
I can mount a partition of this seagate drive too.
But when I try copying a file to it, it freezes with lots of scsi errors.
I don't know at all what the problem is (if it's usb-storage related, or scsi ...)
You can find information about this hardware plugged in my computer here:
http://jjluza.free.fr/infos_usbstorage.txt
I compile my kernel with scsi/usb/usb-storage Verbose support, so there are lots of error messages in my logs. I join a file with all messages since the last boot here :
http://jjluza.free.fr/log.txt.tar.gz
I hope all of these informations will help you to find a solution. If you need more information, tell me

Cheers and happy new year,
