OK - thanks Stephen. One thing if I may though please, how do I know if the "port" is /dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/usb/ttyUSB0 or even any of those? Once the USB-Serial converter is plugged in (and it recognises it), how do I "talk" to each of the serial ports that are on the converter please? I'm getting very confused by all this.
Strangely, I did try "cat /dev/usbttyUSB0" and got: cat: /dev/usb/ttyUSB0: Protocol error I now see this in /var/log/messages: Jul 5 17:19:02 domino kernel: usb-uhci.c: ENXIO c0418780, flags 0, urb c90c8d00, burb c90c8d00 Jul 5 17:19:02 domino kernel: pl2303.c: pl2303_open - failed submitting read urb, error -6 Many thanks Gordon -----Original Message----- From: Stephen J. However, this may be a problem fixed in later kernels. regards, Stephen. On Mon, 5 Jul 2004, Brown, GD (Gordon) wrote: > Hi Stephen, > > I didn't realise it was so old.
