Hi Dirk,

I had pretty much exactly the same messages come up with a Maxtor USB
drive. After several months I found out what was going wrong. Turned
out to be a
combination of two things:

1. Only 2 of my 10 USB ports were USB 2 (which neither I nor the person
selling
the machine knew before!)
2. There was some strange interaction going on when I plugged it into a USB 1
port. It seemed that somehow the ehci driver was trying to claim it, but
couldn't actually talk USB2 to it.

I eventually discovered this when I installed Windows natively on the machine,
and something similar was going on. I still don't know why it happened, but
when I plugged it into one of the two USB2 ports, it worked fine on both OS's.

So maybe make sure that you have it plugged into a USB2 port.

Cheers

                     -Matthew

Hi,

I can't run any USB 2.0 device on my Asrock 939 DUAL in USB 2.0 mode:
obelix ~ # lspci | grep USB

ohci and ehci are compiled as modules. If I load ohci only everthing
works fine (USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 devices).

USB 1.1 devices are handed over to ohci and are working still correctly.

Any help on this?
