I've just finished doing two things at once - adding another, old hard drive
to my PC as the Systems hard drive so I can use the newer, bigger one to store
all my experimental stuff and downloads on, and updating my system from
Mandrake 9.1 to 9.2. It went fine until I got around setting things up, and
then the swearing began in earnest.

I got a little note from the login manager:
//
"There was an error setting up inter-process communications for KDE. The
message returned by the system was:

could not read network connection list
/home/wparish/.DCOPserver_localhost__0

please check that the "dcopserver" program is running."
//

I got it running as a bare-bones CLI setup, so that's no problem - I booted
off one of my Knoppixes, so that's why you're getting this message.

What can I do about it, though?

What are the files that control the behaviour of the dcopserver? Are there
any special configs or magic numbers I should be using?

I did have to chown my directory back to me - it had been dissociated from my
and my personal group during the Update/Reinstall - would that have had any
impact?

Any ideas? (Being stuck away from my files is a bummer - besides, there's a
Nigerian Scammer out there I want to serious mind-fuck, and terrify out of his
wits, meagre as they are, and I can't do that while I'm effectively locked out
of my computer.)

Any help will be gratefully received.
