OK please note;

1. All punters should do some preparation, viz:

1.1 read and re-read the handbook at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/ .
Robert has printed out 6 copies - one each - so contact him if you hate
reading off the screen.

1.2 think about what hardware may give you difficulty, or may have given
you difficulty in a previous distro - graphics cards, nforce chipset
motherboards, modems, acpi, wireless and other exotica. Check out how
your present system handles them, what modules your current distro uses.
etc. The current gentoo installer system is pretty good at detection,
but not perfect. look on http://forums.gentoo.org or
http://news.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.user for
solutions to your particular potential hardware problems.

1.3 Think about what kernel you want to use. Peruse this page
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-kernel.xml
I have only used gentoo-sources (2.4) and gentoo-dev-sources (2.6). If
anyone wants anything else let me know and I will download whatever
files r needed.

1.4 make sure your computer will boot off a cd. Its not essential that
it will, but waaayyyyy easier.

1.5 BACK UP

1.6 BACK UP - we are not responsible for trashing your system and
everything on it.

2.0 There will be some additional written instructions for such things
local server addresses, distcc server addresses etc

3.0 Bring food & drink, or be prepared to go buy some. I understand
there will be a fridge etc there, and I guess a microwave, but we don't
want to trample on Robert's family's hospitality too much. We are in the
garage, it might be cold, dress accordingly. (What am I your mother???)

4.0 Kick off time is 9.30 this Saturday at 110 Queenspark Drive,
Parklands. map here: http://www.rout.co.nz/qp/

5.0 Bring your computer including monitor, keyboard mouse etc and all
peripherals you want to set up on saturday, a power box, an extension
cord and a straight through network cable. CD's for the install will be
supplied, a donation of beer for the group would be suitable recompense.
