OK, I tested the new branch with ekiga and luvcview (both 20060207 and
20060920) and haven't encountered any problem so far (but these tests
were relatively short; no occasion to experience the problem with the
USB reset). This was with a Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000.

BTW: I made the "split" branch of this driver available as a Debian
     package, called linux-uvc-split-source and found at:

     deb http://people.via.ecp.fr/~flo/debian sarge main contrib non-free
     deb-src http://people.via.ecp.fr/~flo/debian sarge main contrib non-free

so other people can test easily.
