http://www.trustedreviews.com/storage/news/2009/01/22/Intel-Will-Release-320GB-SSDs-In-2009/p1 While SSDs prices are generally falling like
a stone we've yet to test anything consumer focused that comes close to
matching the glorious real world performance of Intel's X25-M. There's a price to pay however (which is
why it made my Christmas List) so what would we give for this...
Word is breaking from no less than Bloomberg, the famously financially
obsessed news hounds and their ADD friendly channel, that the chip
giant is going to be tapping out a 320GB version built on 32nm
technology in the latter half of the year. The move comes just a month
after the company began shipping the X-25M 160GB edition.
That said, there is nothing overly shocking about this. Flash memory
doubles with each iteration and generally does so within a 12 month
timeframe so I could go equally Nostradamus on you guys and shout "Hey,
Intel will have a 640GB SSD in 2010!"
Still, it's a cool product which is likely to see even further
performance boosts between now and then so while obvious it's also like
saying: there's a new Ferrari
coming out and it's going to be even
faster than the last one. Obvious yes, but no less exciting for it...
