Linux Professional Institute, Ubuntu and MySQL Certification exams to be
offered at LinuxWorld San Francisco, August 15 -17, 2006.

(Toronto, Ontario, July 27, 2006) – The Linux Professional Institute
(LPI), (http://www.lpi.org), the world's premier Linux certification
organization will provide certification testing during LinuxWorld
Conference & Expo® San Francisco, August 15 - 17, 2006 at Moscone Center
North (San Francisco, California).  LPI is the official certification
sponsor of LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, offering a standardized,
multi-national, and respected program to certify professional expertise
in Linux.

Paid conference delegates will be able to take the LPIC 101 exam free as
part of their conference fee (a $150 US value) while those attending the
trade show will be able to take the exam at a discounted fee of US $75.
The LPI exam will be offered each day at 1 p.m. in Room 111 of Moscone
Centre North.   All candidates must pre-register at the LPI web
site for an LPI ID number at https://www.lpi.org/en/register.html. Exam
candidates must bring valid photo identification and their LPI ID number
to the exam lab.

For the first time at a LinuxWorld event LPI will also be offering both
the Ubuntu Certified Professional exam and the exams for the MySQL 5.0
certifications (Developer and Database Administrator).  These will be
offered at the same location and times as the LPI 101 exam. The Ubuntu
Certified Professional exam sits on top of LPI's LPIC-1 certification
level and the exam will be available to all persons attending LinuxWorld
San Francisco at a $100 fee.  Candidates must pre-register as per LPI
exams as outlined above. MySQL exams, normally priced at $200 per exam,
will be offered at a special 50% discount for all those attending
LinuxWorld San Francisco for $100 each. As with LPI exams, all
candidates can pay for their exams at the exam room by cash, check or
credit card to the LPI proctor. Exam candidates for MySQL exams must
obtain a MySQL certification ID from the MySQL website at
http://www.mysql.com/certification/signup and must bring valid photo
identification and their MySQL certification ID number to the exam events.

LPI will also host a number of events during LinuxWorld San Francisco.
These include the following:
* LPI Strategic Advisory Council Meeting: Wednesday, August 16, 9:30
a.m. at IBM's Market Street location in San Francisco.
* LPI Technical Advisory Council Meeting: Thursday, August 17, 9:30
a.m., Room 111 of the Moscone Centre North.
* LPIC Alumni "California Wine & Cheese" Reception: Wednesday, August
16, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Room 111 of the Moscone Centre North.  This
event will announce LPI's program in matching open source professionals
with job and contract opportunities.  The reception is sponsored by
Prosoft Learning (a VCampus® Company) and Thomson Prometric.

In addition, Glenn McKnight, Director of Operations and other LPI
personnel will host a "Birds of a Feather" (BoF) session, "The State of
Open Source Professional Certification" in Room 302 of the Moscone
Centre North at 5:30 p.m. August 15, 2006.  This session will be a
discussion of trends in the development and delivery of Open Source
professional certification around the world.  Anyone interested in
professional standards as a necessary building block to Open Source
adoption is invited to attend. In addition, during LinuxWorld San
Francisco, LPI will also have an exhibit in the expostion area at Booth
# 228.
