Update: I decided for ext4 instead because I thought that might be even
better supported. I could find the ext4 partition the same way like I found
the fat16 partition before on the LTSP client but it isn't automatically
exported/mounted to the LTSP server.
I followed the suggestions mentioned on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebugLocalDev and could find that my local
unpriviledged user would not be part of the fuse group. After changing that
the local drive also was not automounted - like any USB thumbdrive I
plugged in up to now.
Am I expecting too much? Would it automount at all?
What I could not check yet are the steps 3 and 4 of
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebugLocalDev : To check the udev rules and to
check if I can manually mount the device through SSH.
Any recommendation appreciated.
CU,
Daniel.
