Hello,

we are about to upgrade existing ltsp servers and would like to have some
advices.

Actually we have 2 types of usage: pedagogical and administrative. For each
type of usage there are 2 servers in charge which are configured in a
load-balance fashion.

The administrative servers are serving about 30 thin clients. There are couple
of heavy weight java applications which are executed as localapps. The servers
are currently with 16GB of RAM and in normal days it is used at 70%.

The situation is similar on the pedagogical servers.

We would like to purchase 2 robust servers (instead of 4 actually) with 4 CPUs
each and 128GB of RAM each. On each server there will be 2 virtual machines
which will represent one of each usage type and it will be replicated on the
second server.

What you think of this configuration ? Is it an overkill ? We will maybe bring
back on server some of the applications if the ressources allow it.

Do I need RAID or other storage improvements ? The homes are distant mounted,
but the images will be served/mounted from the servers.

Would be glad to have your comments.

Thanks
