Hi Alkis, That settles it, Mate it is. Do I want 1.12 or the newer 1.14, the former is what downloads from Mate's web page when I download the arch64 version but there's an update, apparently: https://ubuntu-mate.org/blog/mate-desktop-114-for-xenial-xerus/.
