Dear S&S Thanks for the, albeit shocking, news. What a shame. Same has happened here, indeed, at the Gemeentemuseum. I played quite a while ago at the opening of an exhibition about musical instruments and art (called Music for the Eye, there's a nice catalogue), accompanying Saskia Coolen who was allowed to use some 20 of the museum's original recorders. This seems to have been the closing exhibition, actually, because even in an exhibition about Mozart some years later the emphasis was on clothes; just a string quartet on display, if I remember correctly. Why do museums with such fine collections not show their wares?
