This is an interesting question.

Now let's narrow it down to: What is the latest book in vieil ton that sounds good or okay on 7c lute?

    Dear Mathias,
Quite true: merely laziness on my part I fear. It's so easy to simply
click on the general reply rather than to have to redirect the mail.
As a further (if irrelevant!) aside, I think you'll also find that
Andreas Schlegel is right - only an eleven course instrument seems to
be required in this particular publication.

    Martyn,
Thank you for reminding us what's relevant (and what not). May I add
that I find replying merely to the list more helpful than replying to
all. It may help reducing the number of messages in everybody's inbox.

It does indeed require additional bass courses, but the relevant
    point
here is that the music is for an instrument in the old tuning.

I seem to remember that a 14c lute is required in Reusner's
      Lustgarten.
