Why would anyone want to edit the LyX source (in LyX) ?
To make changes that are tricky to do to within LyX. Such as replace all
use of green color with red color. Or turn "section*" into "section". Or
search and replace of math, but I understand that
the latter will appear in LyX 2.0.
